Info: America's mascot, this bird often winters on Amelia Island.  With its large yellow beak, white head and tail, and big brown body is easily identifiable to the untrained eye.  They are an apex predator of most ecosystems but do like to rely on scavneging to get most meals.  You can watch them steal food from fellow raptor species.  With large nest usually nestled in large pine trees Amelia island his home to many winter breeding pairs.
