Info: Often seen following shrimp boats off the coast of Amelia Island, these marine mammals travel in pods. Amelia Island is home to a thriving populations. They can live up to 25 years. These dolphins have larger brains that humans which makes them popular for wildlife shows. These mammals are consider to be the apex predator in most coastal ecosystems. Dolphins have few natural enemies. Humans are their main threat. Pollution, fishing and hunting mean some dolphin species have an uncertain future.
