FAQ's
1. How do I get app updates?
If you allow automatic updates in Settings, all new updates will be pushed to the app for you. Otherwise, you should regularly check for updates as they will be continuous.
2. Can bikers and walkers use any of the Routes?
Yes, and please do! Just be aware you may be sharing routes with golf carts, bicycles and, in some cases, cars.
3. Why doesn't it give me turn-by-turn directions like Google Maps?
Because many of the paths and trails on Amelia Island Plantation are not embedded in Google or Apple maps, the app developers created a proprietary overlay of our trails and paths. Very scenic!
4. How can I get directions from my present location to a Route Start/Finish?
Tap on >Routes then on desired destination (e.g., >Drummond Point Park.) Tap on the Menu icon in the upper right corner of the screen and tap on >Village Start. A map will appear with a red bar around “See the Route.” When you tap on See the Route, it will ask you to select either Google or Apple maps. Tap on either. Map will show how to get to route Start/Finish.
Note, as described in Question 3, neither Google or Apple maps know the AIPCA trails exist, so the directions from them will be via known roads (neither do they always know about the gates).
A way to use the app to direct you via the trails is to simply bring up a Route that includes a location where you want to go. Then start walking or biking. The blue dot, which is your current location, will start moving. Now you want to walk so that the blue dot starts moving closer to your desired destination on the screen.
5. How do I get to place that is not on a Route?
See instructions for Question 4 above. Select any Route. When you get to the map with the red bar “See the Route”, put in where you want to go (either address or pinpoint with your finger) and then tap See the Route. Select Google or Apple maps, and the map will show you the way.
6. Are all Places of Interest located within Amelia Island Plantation?
Most of the POIs are in Amelia Island Plantation while others are either on Amelia Island or easily accessible from Amelia Island Plantation. We wanted to offer a fuller range of options for our residents and guests. You may also tap on the Discover tile for more local information.
7. What is the Security icon for?
If you are in distress while in the community, pressing this button will connect you to AIPCA Security. Please do NOT press for information.
8. What do I do if I can’t get the app to work?
Please enter your contact information using the Feedback icon, and someone from the AIPCA will contact you.
9. How can I make suggestions?
Thank you for asking! We welcome your feedback by using the Feedback button.
10. How do I delete the app?
You can delete it from your phone just as you would any other app.
