Endangered Status: Species of Least Concern

Info: The Least turn is a  protected breeding species on Amelia Island.  This allows the state to fence off their particular nesting spots on the island.  The south end of Amelia island is a growing nesting location for these birds.  The eggs and chicks often blend in with their surroundings which is a cause of their protection during breeding season. 

Sightings: Near Omni Pool, Ocean Links greenspace, under Boardwalks to the beach, sunken forest, near turtle dunes
