Maritime Forest Ecosystem

A maritime forest is an ocean coastal wooded habitat found on higher ground than dune areas within range of salt spray.   This ecosystem helps solidify the barrier island by acting as  wind break and deposit area of salt and sand spray.  This will add up over time and the roots of the tree that make it up will help hold the soil in place.  This ecosystem does not like fire presence.
