Info: Pignut hickory trees are slow growing, deciduous, canopy trees that provide and important food source to native animals. Although the seeds are eaten by many animals human do not consume the seeds because of their bitter taste. The tree got its name from when you split open its nut the inside of the shell resemble a pigs nostrils.
