Info: Known for its beautiful pink color this wading bird is a common summertime inhabitant of the tidal salt marsh. This bird has extra sensitive nerve endings in its beak to help catch its favorite food, shrimp. They will move their beak through the water like a syphon to feel any crusteaceans then clamp down to enjoy their meal . the enzymes within the shrimp are what help this bird get its pink color. They are one of four bald birds we have on property which they acheive around three years of age.
