Slash Pine


Name: Slash Pine           

Scientific Name: Pinus Elliotti 

Info: This tall trees needles are 5-11 inches in length and its cones measure 3-6 inches.  This tree can live up to 200 years old and is planted for industrial uses.  Slash pine has replaced longleaf pine in many locations because it grows faster and takes less maintenance.  Once all of the southeast was mainly a longleaf pine forest, but with its use for building homes slash pine was replanted in its place.
